Oooh Teresina
A contemporary exploration of the age-old art of the guarattelle
"Oooh Teresina" is the fruit of in-depth research into the ancestral art of the guarattelle or bagatelles, glove puppet shows found across Europe since the Middle Ages. The work of the UEUEUE company is rooted in a quest to preserve and reinvent a rich and complex European cultural heritage.
Through the adventures of Pulcinella and Teresina, the company explores universal themes of love, freedom of expression and the place of art in society. This 35-minute show appeals to a wide audience, offering multiple levels of reading that will captivate both newcomers and connoisseurs alike.
The staging, the fruit of meticulous work, skilfully brings together:
- The virtuosic art of glove puppet manipulation
- Live accordion music, a key element of the soundscape
- Measured interaction with the audience, inherited from street theatre traditions
Each performance is an opportunity to question our relationship with rules, justice and public space. Drawing on traditional European scenarios, the company offers a reflection on contemporary society through the lens of age-old characters.
"Oooh Teresina" is the result of years of research, technical refinement and artistic experimentation. Anastasia and Léandre's commitment to this art is manifest in every detail, from the sculpting of the puppets to the musical composition and dramaturgical interpretation. Come and discover how puppet theatre, in its most authentic and demanding form, can illuminate the human and social condition.
