Si j'avais un Œuf

A poetic journey into the heart of parenthood

The project

This ambitious creation, a natural development of the short form « Si j'avais un œuf », extends the company's research into birth and family construction. The show explores in depth the reciprocity of the parent-child encounter: on one side, parents welcoming the unknown; on the other, the child discovering a world they did not choose. The character of Pulcinella, through his ambivalent nature, continues to guide the artists in this exploration. Half man, half bird, at once father, mother and child, he perfectly embodies the troubled zone where the family bond is built.

Artist's statement

Parents of three children, Anastasia and Léandre explore daily the mystery of parenthood. Each birth confronts them with a vertiginous paradox: their children are of their flesh and yet so different, infinitely close and irremediably other. They arrive with their own story, their own mystery, woven into their parents' genes and yet already elsewhere. Parenthood slips away from them and exceeds them, like an egg too large to hold in their hands. And yet they brood over it, this improbable egg, between the desire to transmit and the acceptance of the unexpected.

In this show, the company questions the desire for a child, transmission, inheritances and the way each new generation reinvents its place in this chain. The tradition of Pulcinella becomes a mirror of their own family adventure — an adventure where love transcends nature, where the unexpected becomes a gift, where the strange becomes familiar.
